AUTOMATIC WIRE BAIL FORMING MACHINE

40,000 to 50,000 complete bails per day of ten hours. Change of
sizes in twenty minutes. One operator. Bails uniform--they are
formed not squeezed. Hooks on ends are barbed if desired. Makes
any shape bail. Horn on bottom of machine for catching finished
bails.

For automatically forming wire bails complete such as are used on
Lard, Grease, Tobacco, Candy, Paint and similar pails and cans the
machine illustrated turns them out complete in one passing through
the machine, direct from the wire reel, cutting the wire to length,
form the bail and hooks on the end and barbing the hooks if desired.
any shape bail ordinarily used can be formed on this machine.

The principle of this machine is radically different from any other
machines on the market for doing similar work. We form the bails
over a horn instead of squeezing them to shape. This gives uniform
bails and all bails alike. The hooks on the ends are barbed. If
desired, thus keeping the bails on the ears of the can after they
have been slipped in. Attachments for the machine can be made so
as to omit the bars if they are not wanted. One man is all that
is required to operate this machine successfully and he is used to
bring the wire to the machine, start the new reels and tie the
finished bails into bundles. The finished bails drop on to a horn
as show in illustration, which keeps them from becoming tangled and
they can be readily picked up in bunches and tied together. One
attachment is required for each different size of bail to be formed
changes from one size of bails to another are made in about twenty
minutes.
